This week I attended the Southern California Grantmakers Annual Conference and I was inspired by the incredible lineup of speakers. My favorite panel was one I helped organize on social innovation featuring: Tara Roth, Goldhirsh Foundation / LA 2050, James Nardella, Skoll Foundation, Tracy Underwood, Toyota, Grady Lee, Give2Get and Impact 2030. I was also profoundly moved by several of my friends and colleagues including Deirdre Lind of the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, Shane Goldsmith, Liberty Hill Foundation, Fred Ali, Weingart Foundation, as well as Jordan Brooks, Deputy Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls, Karen Borja, Associate Director, Inland Congregations United for Change, and Ananya Roy, Professor of Urban Planning and Social Welfare and inaugural Director of the Institute on Inequality and Democracy at UCLA Luskin School. The best part of the event was being surrounded by other changemakers who are passionate about making a difference in their communities and around the globe.
